So every time i want to know the sex of an african lovebirds, i will go for DNA testing for better result…

Generally it is $ 25. They take a feather off of the chest of the bird. It is quick and somewhat painless.

    The vet I used for one of my caiques charged me $ 50. It was done by him drawing blood from a neck vein. I chose NOT to pull any feathers off my bird. You have to pull feathers that are still attached — picking up shed feathers does not work.

    If you do it yourself, it’s usually $ 20 for blood and $ 25 for feather testing. At a vet it’s going to cost more, how much more depends on your vet.
