Here is a closeup of the swatch in natural light — as good as it gets. I was worried the yarn would be too "busy" for the cables, but that is not the case. It is simply a matter of whether the cables stand out enough.

And survey says; No. Alas. The owner of the LYS (not there yesterday) said it was out for three reasons: too dark, too tweedy, and the Jamieson’s wool is too felt-like instead of popping up. Even sadder, I do not regret buying it. I will knit up a test swatch for the Tectonics shawl to plan for the amount of yarn I will need.
