Your Questions About Dna Swab Test

James asks…
What happens when all parties are swabbed for a DNA test and the tips are touching? Could he be the dad?
My brother went to Walgreen’s and bought a DNA test in a box, swabbed all parties and put all the swabs in the same envelope and they were all touching one another. The results came back and one was in the 92 percentile and the other was in the 96 percentile. Is there a possibility that the swabs were contaminated with his DNA when they touched in the envelope? Does he need to take this DNA test the right way through a reputable company?
admin answers:
Unless he stuck them into his mouth/nose/ other orifices or handled the tips with his hands he can’t have contaminated them. It’s more likely that they contaminated each other. The swabs should have been seperatly preserved, I’m afraid your results are useless

Carol asks…
can dna swab off the tongue for a test?
Why can dna only be swab from the cheek?
admin answers:
They rather not stick the swab up ur nose or ur other cheeks

Chris asks…
how accurate is a DNA test, because….?
my boyfriends friend had a 1night stand last year, the girl told him weeks later she was pregnant and hadn’t slept with anyone else.
she had the baby a few weeks ago, a DNA swab test was taken and the results came back that its NOT his baby, but she was crying saying shes 100% sure its his baby, there is no way its anyone elses.
how accurate are DNA tests?
admin answers:
They can sometimes give false positives but do not give false negatives. The false positives come when (in the initial test) they only check for a set number of matching proteins. If there is a match they call him the father. Further testing in these cases shows that while the basic tests match a detailed test shows too much variance to be positive.
Negative test means that the basic protein testing did not match. Further testing will just show how badly it doesn’t match up and so will be a waste of time and money.
Hope this helps and I get best answer.

Mark asks…
Inregards to Conception date, the only way to prove is DNA Test. Is this a blood sample or swab.?
I am Father, child birth dates do not add up. Please Help
Babies due date was 22 Oct, 2000
I believe her last period was 2-3rd January, 2000 Thankyou for you help appreciated
admin answers:
If you knew the first day of her last period then you could calculate it up on the internet or the actual due date instead of when the baby was born.
Was the baby born way before the due date or after?
Do you know exactly when you had sex with her?
I will try to answer the best way i can if you could give me the due date of the child that was born your talking about.
If your doubting the kid belongs to you then you have a right to have a dna test done.
All they do i believe is just swab the inside of the child’s cheek and the “father’s” cheek too. So it is a quick and painless test.
Tell me the actual due date……
Estimated date of conception: Sunday, January 30, 2000
End of 1st trimester (12 weeks): Sunday, April 9, 2000
End of 2nd trimester (27 weeks): Sunday, July 23, 2000
Estimated Due Date: October 22, 2000
This would put her First day of last menstrual period at January 16, 2000

Sandra asks…
Human DNA test?
***I apologize if I’m misusing the terms Hispanic or Latino/a***
I’m a 17-year-old black girl…I’ve often been asked if I’m Latina and I never really thought much of it until tonight when my aunt, mom and I were looking at photos. My aunt has often been asked this question too and my cousin and I have talked about the possibility of us being part Dominican on my maternal grandfather’s side (my grandfather looks very Hispanic). He doesn’t know what his ethnic background truly is because his mother died when he was very young and he doesn’t know much about his family.
Anyway, I’m just really curious about where I or one of my family members can obtain a DNA swab test so we can learn about our geneology?
Um…I want to know because I want to know about the side of my family that my grandfather never knew. I want to know my true lineage…wtf? Can’t a person just be curious? What’s so wrong with that?
I knew someone was gonna take it the wrong way.
Thanks for answering the question btw.
admin answers:
It sounds as though your grandfather is still alive so you can easily obtain a DNA sample from him using a mouth swab rubbed against the inside of the cheek.
Your grandfather will have received his Y-chromosome from his father, and he in turn would have received it from his father following up the direct paternal line. If you take a Y-chromosome SNP test you can see which ‘haplogroup’ he is in and with this determine where his Y-chromosome comes from. If you have a theory that his paternal line is of Spanish or Portuguese origin, the test will help to prove (or disprove) this.
It is also possible to test his direct maternal line too through his mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). He would have received this mtDNA from his mother, and her mother and so on. Again it will tell you which haplogroup he is in for that line and provide a region of origin. The mtDNA test is not as precise but it will differentiate well between that of African and European origin.
Note that the tests look at direct lines, so will miss out other ancestors.
I had both of mine tested through www.dnaheritage.com a while ago.
