Is penis bleeding, after an Urethral swab test for STD’s, normal?
My B/F was tested for STD‘s today. He urinated and then noticed that he had a little bit of blood coming from his penis (urethra). He said it was not a lot. Should he be concerned? He said the swab test hurt and it was shoved a really long ways down his urethra. Please only serious answers!!!!!!!!!! This is NOT a joke. Thank you!

You should probably contact the doctor who did the test. They will most likely be more experienced with this type of thing and even if somone said it was okay over the internet they could be wrong and somthing could happen so if i where him i would phone the doc who did the test.

Is this true? I’ve heard horror stories about the swab test, is it true they only do
urine testing now? I’m also wondering what else should I expect in a STD testing clinic
as this is going to be my first time being tested. Would my parents find out? Or is it confidential?

Both are required.
The urine test is for checking the number of Red Blood Cells and White Blood Cells. If your urine has an abnormally high number of any one one them, then it is most likely due to an infection.
The swab test is for checking out any unusual discharge. The samples will then be tested for common infections like Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.
As far as I know, testing and results are confidential. Unless if you run into your parents on the clinic.

There is nothing abnormal going on, I just think I should get one done.
I keep a look-out for any symptoms and the most I have ever had was a fever and sore throat at the same time (that was in the winter after getting home soaked from the rain)
So I think I am all good.
I think the one week thing is great, however what a bunch of ar$es not calling you after waiting for 2 weeks

Since you’re just going in for a regular check up and don’t think you have anything then they will do one swab to check for abnormal cells that may indicate cancer. They don’t automatically test you for STD’s.
When you go in they will ask what you want to be tested for and they may suggest things to test you for based on concerns and symptoms. There are individual tests for when you think you may have something. Herpes is a blood test where they draw it and send some off to the lab. Most everything else involves a swab.
Your provider will usually contact you within 2 weeks with your results and generally 1 week if you have an abnormal pap smear or you test positive for an STD. You can be contacted by phone or by postal mail – it all depends on the clinic and how they do business. Some doctors wont contact you at all if everything is normal.

my girlfriend wants us to go and get tested because she wants to get on the nuva ring. we are going tomorrow and i want to know a few things. i know we are getting a “swab” test. Im pretty sure its going to hurt like a mutha but im looking for detail. how far do they stick it in? how long does it stay in? do they wiggle this thing around in you? on a scale of 1 to 10 does this hurt. 1 being icecream and butterflies, 10 being beat down like you stole money out of the church basket. any and all responses will be greatly appreciated.

Never had it done but it’s been described as, at most, uncomfortable but lasting only a second or so. I imagine some degree of skill and gentleness varies among swab-holders though!
I congratulate you both though for taking clearheaded if perhaps embarrassing steps to be mature about starting your sexual relationship “clear” and clean so you never have to worry about anything along the way.
